This is going to be written in the first person, as I, Alex - founder and director - want to put out there where we're going, and how we're going to get there.
In the coming weeks, you will see a bunch of communication as to why we are Barbells For Bullies and not Deadlifts for Dogs or Pull Ups for Pups or what have you. Long story short, bully breeds need our help. They're vilified, they're cast out, they're discriminated against through legislation that frankly doesn't work. And it's not getting any better. We have work to do.
We help all dogs, but we have a bleed on our hands with regard to how Bully Breeds are perceived, and we need to change that. We'll help any dog that needs helping, but we have some things that we need to address in the process. You will see this communication come down soon.
But we're changing out tone a bit to reflect that we are not ONLY in this to help the oft vilified and demonized "pit bull." I put that in quotes, because there is no such breed. It's a blanket term, and an inaccurate one at that. So many dogs that are in shelters, relegated to cages with cards hanging that say "Pit Bull!" are not even AmStaff or any mix of true bully. They just LOOK that way.
But let's keep it positive, and for the few of you that read this blog, let me lay it out for you a few months before we launch.
Here at Barbells For Bullies, we are dedicated to fostering a fit and socially conscientious community.
We leverage fitness to help benefit and raise money and awareness for social causes. Specifically, we endeavor to AMRAP... No, not "As Many Reps As Possible" as you fitness fiends may surmise.
No, we are dedicated to helping As Many Rescues As Possible through a variety of channels. We mean both helping raise money for rescues that are doing fantastic work, as well as doing every thing we can to get every shelter dog into a loving, caring, home - for life.
In 2019, we are rolling out several ways to execute this objective. But like all things, we need some of your help.
We're launching satellite competitions, where we will leverage our knowledge of planning, marketing, and executing a fitness-based fundraising event to benefit a local rescue or animal advocacy initiative; taking the guesswork and stress out of event planning for people that want to make a different but don't know where to start. You can email us and ask for more info, and we'd be happy to start that conversation.
Moreover, we're launching Barbells For Bullies Online Competitions, where you can compete and raise money for a rescue close to you from the comfort of your own gym or home. Although, let's be honest, the workouts we program may get pretty uncomfortable.
And of course, we will still do our Barbells For Bullies Official Events all over the US, that we personally will administer, delivering a challenging competition and event experience like no other.
We have much more in store for the future, but those are just the highlights. We hope to garner your support, one rep, one sweat-soaked shirt, one belly rub at a time.
As always, thank you all for your support, kindness, time, effort, shares, follows, and love. They need it, and we all can help, one rep, one conversation, one random act of kindness at a time.
Now let's get to it.
